With a career spanning over a decade in the field of ecology and conservation, Samuel Olney has cemented his role as a leading expert in UK terrestrial ecology. Since starting in 2009, Samuel has dedicated himself to understanding the intricate balance of our ecosystems, applying his extensive knowledge to a variety of projects across both the private and public sectors. His work is characterized by a profound ecological understanding, required for navigating the complex challenges presented by diverse environmental projects.
Samuel’s expertise is not just broad but also deep, specializing in bat ecology—a critical area of UK wildlife conservation. He holds Natural England (NE) and Natural Resources Wales (NRW) licences for bats, including trapping licences, showcasing his advanced skill set in bat conservation efforts. Additionally, his NE licence for great crested newts (GCN) marks him as a versatile ecologist capable of handling protected species surveys and conservation strategies with the utmost proficiency.
Beyond his ecological and conservation credentials, Samuel is also a qualified and experienced tree climber, a skill that enhances his ability to conduct comprehensive surveys and assessments in a variety of settings, further broadening the scope of services Gordano Ecology can offer.
